How to Get Asuna in Echoes of Aincrad

Unlock Asuna as a permanent partner by reaching Floor 2 and completing her side-quest chain, including the material-collection and boss missions.

Reach Floor 2, then complete Asuna's side-quest chain.

Asuna is not obtained simply by progressing through the opening story. The supplied walkthrough material points to a multi-part chain that begins after Floor 2 becomes available and ends with her joining the party permanently.

Unlock requirements

  • Progress far enough in the main story to unlock Floor 2.
  • Return to town and check for Asuna's side quest rather than only following the Main Quest.
  • Complete each linked mission in the chain.
  • Finish the final high-difficulty boss mission to receive the completion reward and permanent partner access.

StageObjective patternPreparation
1. Material requestCollect materials Asuna needs to improve her weapon, including field drops and a deeper encounterCarry recovery items and activate checkpoints before searching
2. Stronger targetFight an elite enemy and continue the material hunt with Asuna's improved equipmentReview your partner commands and bring a short punish skill
3. High-stakes huntReach and defeat the stronger boss at the end of the chainUpgrade before entering; the quest is designed to test the new equipment

How to make the chain easier

Do not rush directly from one mission into the next. Use the Town of Beginnings loop: spend Growth Points, improve your active weapon at the Smithy, check Asuna's partner setup, restock healing and SP items, and reveal the next area with checkpoints. The final mission is a good test of whether your build can convert a safe opening into damage without exhausting Stamina and SP.

Treat the Asuna chain as partner-combat practice: set up your own skills first, then use Switch or Free Mode according to the opening.Official Bandai Namco screenshot

Use Switch Mode when an enemy focuses you and you need time to heal or prepare a Sword Skill. Free Mode is useful when the target is already controlled and both characters can safely apply pressure.

What happens after completion?

After the final chain mission, Asuna becomes a permanent companion available for future quest preparation. Her official character profile places her among the game's partners; her value comes from the weapon, Support Skills, Sword Skills, and Combination Skills you configure rather than from the unlock alone.

Localization note: automatic subtitles can misrecognize quest names and item names. Follow the quest text in your game for the exact local wording; the route above preserves the reliable progression pattern from the supplied walkthrough.
