How the Mace class plays

Mace uses heavy attacks to break defenses, stagger targets and create knockdowns, and it can be paired with a shield. Its practical defensive plan is straightforward: Absorb uncertain pressure with the shield, then use heavy hits when the enemy's defense can be broken.

Slower attacks demand more restraint than Sword or Rapier. That does not make the class weak; it defines the problem the rest of the build must solve. Evaluate the class through repeatable openings, SP and Stamina management, and the defensive response you can perform under pressure.

Choose it when
  • An enemy's guard or poise is the real obstacle.
  • You prefer visible control windows to constant pressure.
  • Your partner benefits from longer punish opportunities.
Reconsider it when
  • Slow startup makes you trade hits repeatedly.
  • You need long reach or fast repositioning more than stagger.

A repeatable Mace combat loop

Practical sequenceMace encounter loop
  1. 01

Guard or circle until the enemy finishes a committed attack.

  2. 02

Land a measured heavy hit instead of extending an unsafe chain.

  3. 03

Use the stagger window for a Sword Skill or partner command.

  4. 04

Reset before the enemy recovers rather than forcing one extra swing.

This sequence is a starting discipline, not a fixed combo. Enemy behavior, difficulty, partner choice and equipped skills can change the right timing. Run it against a familiar encounter first so only the weapon decision changes.

Mace build checks

  • Keep Stamina available for both the heavy hit and the defensive exit.
  • Separate a fast utility skill from the main stagger punish.
  • Test whether the partner can capitalize on knockdowns.
  • Enhance the weapon before comparing it with an untouched higher-class drop.

Base ATK, upgrade costs, drop locations and exact skill multipliers are not present in the current public extraction. Check those values in the running game instead of treating a weapon's lore description as a combat effect.

Mace FAQ

Can this class use a shield?

Yes. Mace and Shield supports a shield, which gives the class a defensive fallback while learning an encounter.

Is Mace the best weapon?

No class is best for every player and encounter. Mace is strongest as a fit when your goal is breaking guards, creating stagger windows and methodical play. Use the weapon fit finder to compare that goal with the other five classes.

Which individual Mace weapon should I use?

Start with the weapon you can enhance and whose scaling and EX-Mods support the stats you already use. The Demo descriptions above identify records and lore, but they are not a substitute for current in-game ATK, upgrade level or effect values.

Evidence boundary: class mechanics are based on official guides. Weapon names, descriptions and skill relationships are versioned to Steam demo build 23442858. The combat loop and build checks are editorial recommendations.
